Pumps

Non-ferrous metallurgy, fertilizer production, pulp and paper plants are associated with abusive applications for pumping and mixing equipment. Aggressive and abrasive medias at high temperatures are usual for these industries.
Besides heavy-duty Mixtec agitators, Ū-Tec SIA offers a full range of centrifugal pumps individually designed for extreme conditions.

Specialized process and chemical slurry pumps

Ū-Tec is the exclusive European agent of SAM Engineering (South Africa). Each pump from the SAMCO range is individually tailored to specific tasks like:

  • flue gas desulphurization (FGD)
  • molten sulfur and sulfuric acid transfer
  • bacterial (BIOX) and pressure oxidation (POX), high pressure acid leaching (HPAL)
  • solvent extraction (SX)
  • electrowinning (EW)
  • wet process phosphoric acid (WPA)
  • brine transfer in potash production
  • paper stock transfer
  • other complicated applications

SAMCO pumps are designed for heavy duty applications involving corrosive, abrasive and hot environments.

Depending on the process, the right material of construction is selected to offer the best corrosion and abrasion resistance. The materials range tom simple and trustworthy 316L and CD4MCu to super duplex steels (alloy 2507), high corrosion resistance austenitic steels (904L, Alloy 20) and special alloys (Sanicro 28, Hastelloy C-276, 654 SMO).

The user can benefit from a wide range of impellers to handle different types of fluids: open, vortex, thick-wall closed, axial flow and special shearpeller.

The pumps can be equipped with gland packing, single or double mechanical seals and up to 3 stage dynamic seal offering low maintenance and low OpEx while pumping hard to seal medias.

The heavy-duty bearing frames are equipped with oil splashing devices to ensure long bearing life even in low oil levels. The bearing frames can be cast in stainless steel and fitted with labyrinth seals to offer additional protection in humid, aggressive and dusty environments.

Base frames of the pumps can be produced in stainless steel to make sure that the pump stays properly fixed even in the most corrosive of environments.

For dirty solutions and acidic slurries pumps are equipped with solids handling impellers and removable wear plates to minimize operation expenses while pumping corrosive and abrasive medias.

SAMCO pumps are available in horizontal, vertical spindle and true cantilever design.

The latter is the most reliable option for pumping hot corrosive slurries like wet process phosphoric acid slurry since the pump doesn’t have any seals or bearing in contact with media. This is also the preferable solution where no external fluid is available for lubrication of intermediate bearings.
